Starting my photography journey

White berries in the night and experimenting with lighting effects

Hello, welcome again to my blog and to the beginning of my photography journey. This is my first post and is about my thoughts wandering in the night and discovering the beauty of photography as a whole.

This photo above was one of my first photos on my Olympus C-750. I was outside and eager to capture something in the night. I just couldn’t wait till morning to try this camera out! You know that feeling, when you’re moving too fast in life? Have a sudden thought and in the next moment you’re waiting on a delivery. Maybe this hobby was an impulsive decision, but I enjoyed every second of that night.

I can’t quite remember what settings I used to make the photo above, but I focused on the berries on our nightwalk through the viewfinder I think it’s called. Then I clicked on the shutter release, but nothing happened. After a few moments there was a flash, then I saw the photo I just shot. It was more beautiful than I initially thought, that’s why I want to feature it on this blog entry.

It looks like something out of a fantasy world, with fire magic flowing around us and also straight out of a dream. That was the photo where I decided to go further on my journey to share this nostalgic feeling of 2000’s Photographs.

Beauty, vibes and dreams

I then walked further and made more photos but couldn’t quite capture the photos I wanted. I can’t quite explain it, they should have a “vibe”. But beauty is everywhere, when we walk down a street, I realized that we need to “see” more. Not just seeing the things and go on with our day. Look beside your device you’re reading this post from. Is there a wall? What is on the wall? Is it white and not even? I then think of a snowy landscape with many hills and mountains. That is when we see beauty in things and not just only seeing things. Having the heart and mind togehter helps appreciating the world more.

But anyway, because I had this thought on my nightwalk I then captured this photo:

Streetlamp in the night, shot with my Olympus C-750
A second of a walk

It’s not that special is it? But to me it is. If I look at this photo I think that someone walks home, is tired from work, and looks up to the street light. In the next moment they are home. But this second where this person is looking at this street light is a glimpse of someones life. Maybe also a glimpse of someones dream. It sure looks to me like that.

Maybe I just wanted to see what happens, when I make a photo of a street lamp in the night, but isn’t it impossible to only have one thought at the same time? Have you multiple thoughts at the same time? Write down a comment, what you think, what you feel, when you’re engaging in this hobby. What you think about your or my thoughts? Please also check out my other blog entries. Thank you for reading, hope you all have a nice day.
